Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli received an invitation to their Mumbai home for the Ram Mandir consecration ceremony.
With permission from the Board of Control for Cricket in India, star Indian batsman Virat Kohli is allegedly going to the Ram Mandir consecration ceremony on Monday, January 22 in Ayodha (BCCI). Notably, following Wednesday, January 17, the third Twenty20 International against Afghanistan, the Indian team will enjoy a two-day rest. Before the first Test match between India and England starts at Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium on January 25, they will be gathering in Hyderabad on January 20.
The 16-man team will immediately begin hitting the nets as soon as they get to Hyderabad. But after his practise on January 21, Kohli is reportedly going to Ayodhya to attend the revered Pran Pratishtha ceremony of Ram Mandir, according to a report via Cricbuzz.
The 35-year-old and his Bollywood actress wife Anushka Sharma were shown the invitation to the holy occasion at their Mumbai home. In addition to Kohli, former Indian cricket players Sachin Tendulkar and MS Dhoni have been invited to the momentous occasion of Lord Ram Lalla’s return.
In the interim, before the third Twenty20 International match against Afghanistan, Kohli was seen rehearsing at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. In the second match of the series in Indore, the batter who was born in Delhi made his T20I debut after a 14-month absence. He attempted to attack the opposition from the outset.
Before the 2024 T20 World Cup, Kohli’s final Test in the Twenty20 Indians
The great batsman was holed out to mid-off against Naveen ul Haq after making a brief appearance of 29 (16) that included five boundaries. Significantly, his strike rate was the subject of much discussion prior to the series, with a number of former players arguing that his style of play was out of step with contemporary T20I norms.
But ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024 in the West Indies and the USA, on June 1st, the selectors once again placed their trust in Kohli and skipper Rohit Sharma. As a result, the pair is probably going to be on the squad for this historic tournament.
