In January 2018, Nasir Hossain made his final appearance for Bangladesh on the international scene.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has imposed a two-year ban on Bangladeshi all-rounder Nasir Hossain after he was found guilty of breaking the anti-corruption rule during the 2020–21 Abu Dhabi T10 league.
Nasir was one of the eight Pune Devils franchise members that faced charges before the International Criminal Court (ICC) in September 2023 on allegations of corruption. On April 7, 2025, the 32-year-old will be qualified to play cricket internationally once more. He agreed to the three accusations brought against him and was given a two-year ban, with six months off.
“Breach of Article 2.4.3 of the Code, in that, he failed to disclose to the Designated Anti-Corruption Official (without unnecessary delay) the receipt of a gift that was offered to him that had a value of over US$750, namely the gift of a new iPhone 12,” is the first charge brought against Nasir, according to an ICC statement.
The second allegation was that Hossain “failed to disclose to the Designated Anti-Corruption Official full details of the approach or invitation he received to engage in Corrupt Conduct via the new iPhone 12.”
The third accusation against Nasir states that “he failed or refused, without compelling justification, to cooperate with the Designated Anti-Corruption Official’s investigation in relation to possible Corrupt Conduct under the Code, including (without limitation) failing to provide accurately and completely any information and/or documentation requested by the Designated Anti-Corruption Official (whether as part of a formal Demand pursuant to Article 4.3 or otherwise) as part of such investigation.”
In 19 Tests, 1281 ODIs, and 371 T20Is, Nasir has amassed 1044 runs. Additionally, in ODIs, he has claimed 24 wickets; in Tests and T20Is, he has claimed 8 and 7 wickets, respectively. Nasir, who made his debut for Bangladesh in all three formats in 2011, played his final international match against Sri Lanka in an ODI at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka in January 2018.
