Australia has reorganized their roster for their match against the West Indies, and two new players will be making their debut on the international scene next month.
The revelation that two important players will miss Australia’s three-match ODI series against the West Indies next month has dealt a blow to the team.
Following his management, star all-arounder and recent ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup winner Glenn Maxwell will miss the three home matches. Additionally, fast bowler Jhye Richardson has been removed from the 13-player roster due to a side injury.
As the first-choice players who will miss the series, Maxwell joins fellow World Cup champions Pat Cummins, Mitch Marsh, Mitchell Starc, and Josh Hazlewood. Veteran batsman Steve Smith will captain the team, with left-hander Travis Head serving as his deputy.
Australia has called up youthful gun Jake Fraser-McGurk and pacer Xavier Bartlett to fill in for Maxwell and Richardson. If chosen for the series against the Carbirean side, the two could make their debut for their country.
When Fraser-McGurk beat AB de Villiers’ record for the quickest List last year, it made headlines. When he was playing domestic cricket in Australia, he hit a 29-ball century.
Meanwhile, Bartlett is a right-arm pacer who has shown promise in recent domestic white-ball matches. He has also had a few impressive appearances for Australia’s Under-19 team during the past ten years, as well as for Australia A versus New Zealand A last year.
Beginning in Melbourne on February 2, the three-match ODI series against the West Indies will also include games in Sydney and Canberra before the two teams play another three-match T20I series from February 9–13.
The following players represent Australia in the One-Day Internationals: Josh Inglis, Marnus Labuschagne, Matt Short, Adam Zampa, Sean Abbott, Xavier Bartlett, Nathan Ellis, Jake Fraser-McGurk, Cameron Green, Aaron Hardie, Josh Inglis, and Travis Head (vc).
