The national team’s batting and bowling coaches, respectively, will be former New Zealand all-rounder Andre Adams and BCB’s High Performance (HP) Head Coach David Hemp, according to a Tuesday announcement from the Bangladesh Cricket Board.
The forthcoming home series against Sri Lanka will mark the beginning of both players’ two-year contracts with the Bangladeshi squad.
Hemp had been the HP Head Coach since May 2023. The previous year, he had coached the national team’s batting on a tour of New Zealand.
With nearly 15,500 runs scored in his first-class career as a batter for Glamorgan, Free State, and Warwickshire, Hemp possesses the ECB Level 4 Coaching Certification. He played for Bermuda in 24 ODIs. In addition to serving as the Victoria State Women’s Team and the Melbourne Stars’ head coach in the Women’s Big Bash League, he led the Pakistan Women’s National Team from 2020 to 2022.
Prior to moving to Bangladesh, Adams was the bowling coach for the New Zealand White Ferns and had 47 appearances for the country across all competitions. During his ten-year coaching career, he has also served as Australia’s assistant coach in the 2022–23 series against South Africa and as bowling coach for New Zealand in the recent T20I series against Pakistan. From 2018 until 2023, Adams served as the Australian Sheffield Shield team’s head bowling coach for the New South Wales Blues.
