Let’s talk about LSG’s five best hitting efforts before the cash-rich league returns in 2024.
Despite having only participated in a few Indian Premier League (IPL) seasons, the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have thrilled league viewers with some incredible batting displays over the past three years. Still, Lucknow hasn’t taken home the championship despite having a potent batting lineup.
- In 2023, against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Nicholas Pooran scored 62 runs.
IPL fans will always remember the amazing knock that Nicholas Pooran gave the visiting Los Angeles Sparks (LOSG) in the 2023 match at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. Lucknow fell four wickets at a rate of 99 in 10.4 overs while chasing a massive goal of 213 runs.
KL Rahul was removed by Challengers a few minutes after Pooran arrived at the crease, placing the visitors in a vulnerable position. With only 15 deliveries left to make his fifty, the West Indies captain displayed steely grit in a nerve-wracking moment. Following his 62-run innings with 11 boundaries (seven maximums and four fours) off just 19 deliveries, Pooran returned to the pavilion.
- KL Rahul’s perfect 103 runs at the Wankhede Stadium in 2022 against the Mumbai Indians (MI)
With 616 runs in 15 matches at a strike rate of 135.38, KL Rahul finished as the second-leading run scorer in the 2022 Indian Premier League. Rahul looked great with the bat. At the Wankhede Stadium, he hit his fourth IPL century and led his team to a 36-run victory over the Mumbai Indians (MI).
After winning the toss, MI invited LSG to bat first. Alongside Quinton de Kock, Rahul provided an effective opening for his team. Rahul, on the other hand, took MI’s bowling unit to task, finishing his innings with an undefeated 103 off only 62 deliveries after de Kock was removed on 10.
- KL Rahul’s perfect 103 runs at the Brabourne Stadium in 2022 against the Mumbai Indians (MI)
When the Mumbai Indians (MI) and LSG faced each other for the first time in 2022, KL Rahul delivered a powerful blow. When the Super Giants chose to bat first, their seasoned openers Quinton de Kock and KL Rahul gave them a great start. The South African mainstay was overcome by Fabian Allen, but Rahul carried on the attack.
In just 56 deliveries, the captain of Lucknow struck his third IPL hundred while leading the club from the front. The veteran scored an undefeated 103 off 60 to end his inning. With his strong blow, Lucknow amassed 199 runs in 20 overs. After setting a lofty goal, MI was eighteen runs short, and Lucknow won.
- In 2022, Quinton de Kock defeated the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) 140 times without losing.
In their inaugural season, LSG defeated Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by a mere two runs in the final league round match. Rinku Singh showed off his remarkable batting ability in the tournament, scoring 40 runs for Kolkata off of just 15 balls. Prior to Rinku’s valiant inning, Quinton de Kock demonstrated his prowess at bat for LSG.
After winning the toss and opting to bat first, LSG played brilliantly, amassing 210 runs without dropping a wicket. With confidence, opener De Kock took on KKR’s formidable bowling unit and struck his second IPL century in just 59 balls. With 20 boundaries and an undefeated score of 140 off just 70 deliveries, the Protea concluded his innings.
