On April 10, Debashish Chowdhury, the chief physician for the Bangladesh Cricket Board, revealed that Ebadot was not available.
The decision to exclude renowned spinner Ebadot Hossain from the forthcoming T20 World Cup 2024 has inflicted a severe blow to Bangladesh. Due to his unfit status, Ebadot will not be traveling to the United States and the West Indies in June. Before the competition, he had expressed hope for a speedy recovery and expressed a desire to represent Bangladesh in the international competition.
In July 2023, during Bangladesh’s home series against Afghanistan, the bowler and the umpire collided. He thus had surgery to repair an anterior cruciate ligament injury. On April 10, Debashish Chowdhury, the chief physician for the Bangladesh Cricket Board, revealed that Ebadot was not available. Before the T20 World Cup, Debashish dashed hopes of a return for the right-arm pacer.
“It is not possible for Ebadot to return before the World T20.” Not even a thought is being given to it. His return does not occur in that time frame (before to the World Cup). You need at least ten months, although it takes eight to twelve. He had surgery in December, so his recovery won’t begin until at least October. Debashish, cited by Cricbuzz, stated, “He can definitely not make a comeback in the World T20. He can make a comeback a little earlier.”
Bangladesh is running out of time due to injury to key players.
Two more Bangladeshi players have been prone to injuries before to the major event, aside from Ebadot. Both Taijul Islam and Soumya Sarkar have had enough time off the field. During an ODI against Sri Lanka, Soumya crashed with an advertisement board, injuring his knee. However, Taijul suffered a knee injury during the first Test matchup with Sri Lanka. Debashish, though, is optimistic that participants will return in good time for the event.
“Taijul also sustained a knee injury, but he continued to play despite it. Due to his injury sustained during fielding in the first Test, Taijul’s and Soumya’s conditions are comparable and rehabilitation is now crucial. The two injuries occurred within a week of one other, thus the time frame is rather close. They will need some time to heal, and as we are running out of time, it is getting harder for us. We don’t know how long it will take them to recover totally, but I think both will be well (before the Zimbabwe series),” he continued.
