Ebadot Hossain had already expressed his wish to play for The Tigers in the main event and his expectation of a quick recovery.
Bangladesh has experienced a significant blow with the news that their top bowler, Ebadot Hossain, will not be competing in the 2024 T20 World Cup. In July of last year, the right-arm fast bowler suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury. The most recent development follows Hossain’s previous remarks regarding his desire to play for The Tigers in the main event and his expectation of a quick recovery.
On April 10, Debashish Chaudhary, the chief physician for the Bangladesh Cricket Board, revealed that the 30-year-old will not be ready for the main 20-over competition, which is set to take place in the United States and the West Indies in June. After undergoing surgery in December, Hossain
Three potential replacements for Bangladesh in the 2024 T20 World Cup are examined here:
- Raja Rejaur Rahman
For the three T20I matches against England in March of last year, Bangladesh’s roster comprised three players without international experience. Among those chosen was Rejaur Rahman Raja, who impressed in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). Even though he was not able to make the starting lineup, this indicates that he was part of the plan.
Rahman Raja has collected 36 wickets at an average of 7.92 and 25.30 in 35 T20 matches that he has featured in. In addition, he had a four-wicket haul (4/14). One of the leading candidates for the 2018 World Cup is the 24-year-old.
- Hashim Tanzim
The 2023 Asia Cup squad has Tanzim Hasan Sakib in place of Ebadot Hossain. A call-up to the national squad, Hasan’s first ever, was based on his List A cricket performance. With nine wickets in three matches during the ACC Emerging Men’s Asia Cup, the 21-year-old bowler looked excellent.
In the previous season, he also contributed 17 wickets to Abahani Limited’s Dhaka Premier League victory. The right-arm seamer has taken 38 wickets at an economy of 8.83 from 32 T20 matches, with the best bowling stats being 3/9. Hasan might be selected to take Hossain’s position in the main event.
- Ahmed Khaled
Although the right-arm bowler Khaled Ahmed hasn’t played for Bangladesh in T20 internationals yet, he has played in the other two forms. With 64 wickets from 53 matches at an economy rate of 8.17, including a four-wicket haul, his T20 cricket numbers are outstanding nonetheless.
Russell Domingo, the former coach of Bangladesh, had previously stated that Khaled possesses the potential to become one of the world’s finest bowlers. Given his considerable experience over the other two, the 31-year-old could be selected to replace Hussain in the important international competition.
