With one game remaining, India won the series over Zimbabwe by a margin of ten wickets.
At the Harare Sports Club on Saturday, July 13, India easily defeated Zimbabwe by 10 wickets in the fourth Twenty20 International, winning the five-match series with one match remaining.
For the second time in the series, India took the early wicket as Shubman Gill claimed his fourth straight toss. Although they batted 52 valid deliveries together, the Zimbabwean openers were cautious in their approach and scored 63 runs to get their team off to a slow start. The two openers were bowled out in consecutive overs by Abhishek Sharma and Shivam Dube, who bowl occasionally. The scoring rate increased as captain Sikandar Raza walked out to bat, taking some calculated chances against the inexperienced Indian bowlers.
First T20I: ZIM vs. IND – Who Said What?
Shubman Gill, the winning captain, stated: “We talked about chasing.” It’s excellent that we finished it because we couldn’t in the first game. Still, the work is not finished. This group of athletes and the team are excellent. With any luck, we can lead the team to success. [Alters tomorrow] Not had the conversation with the coach yet. At tomorrow’s toss, we will inform you if there are any changes.
The losing captain, Sikandar Raza, stated: “I believe we thought 160 was a par score, but 180 wouldn’t have been enough because the wicket was a little bit slower.” It’s time to raise your heads and declare that they batted better today. We will quickly become a fiercely competitive team, I’m convinced of it. We could have scored more runs even though the last five overs ended in a 54-55 score. There was some kick and bounce, and we had to control ourselves. They played excellent batting and forced us to bat out of the game. The wicket was spongy and a tad bit slower than average. For them, the hefty roller worked like magic. It developed into a stunning wicket.
Yashasvi Jaiswal, POTM, stated:
I had a great time today. The wicket was excellent. I was having fun playing my game and trying to play my shots. The ball was hitting the bat when it was brand-new. The ball became slow as it aged. I realized this and adjusted my strategy. We had a great time together. I wanted to chase my shots at first. I intended to rotate after that and remain through to the very end.
