Prior to their international assignments, Bangladesh’s captain, Najmul Hossain Shanto, has asked for his team’s red-ball specialists to have more match practice. The left-hand batter believed that it would greatly benefit both the team and individuals who just focused on the longest format if they could get experience by playing for the “A” teams.
Given that the majority of Bangladesh’s cricket players had little to no practice prior to the series, blame was placed on their preparation levels after Sri Lanka easily defeated Bangladesh in the two-match Test series played at home.
After their series loss to Sri Lanka at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium on Wednesday (April 3), Najmul informed reporters, “If we can send our Test specialists in the Bangladesh A team play in our next Test destination, we will better prepared.”
“They will be aware of those conditions and wickets. Those who choose to play white-ball cricket must work hard in the nets and adjust mentally. It will help, even if the A team series is played at home,” he remarked. “Those who play the three formats of cricket have to adapt to the way modern cricket is run. Individuals who participate in fewer formats may be more prepared. Moving forward, we need to figure out how to adapt to the three formats and make the necessary preparations.
We don’t have many obstacles in the domestic first-class, but it would be beneficial to get more wickets. In my opinion, first-class cricket matches are not of high quality. I believe that participating in more games aids in each player’s overall development.”
In terms of Test cricket, Najmul acknowledged that their batting errors have recently cost them dearly. Only once in their last six innings has Bangladesh managed to score more over 200 runs, and that was when they scored 318 in the second innings of the second Test while behind 511 runs at ZACS.We batted poorly the entire series. There’s no way to justify anything. We can argue endlessly, but as a team, we struggled to bat well during the four innings.
“This group is quite young. We’re not very experienced. Every player wants to get better. Give it more time, and the group will come to wiser conclusions,” he declared. “We have trouble batting every time. However, I can guarantee that each batter is putting it their all. Their desire is to be a part of the team. They put a lot of practice into it. Although the intended result of this game was not achieved, I am confident that it will eventually be achieved. We will see results because we are putting in a lot of effort, practicing, and wanting to get better.
Najmul was likewise unclear of the cause of Bangladesh’s failed catches in the two Test matches. especially considering how well those same field players were performing in the fielding drills.
“Practice makes perfect for everyone. They put a lot of effort on fielding. We don’t have an explanation for why we missed the catches. Despite everyone’s excellent preparation as a fielding unit, we were unable to take the catches “explained Najmul.
Even three or four years ago, our fast bowlers were not as good. On these kinds of wickets, they are now taking wickets (as in Chattogram). Both Tests saw Khaled bowl exceptionally well. On his debut, Hasan Mahmud bowled brilliantly. In the first Test, Shoriful performed well. When Taskin played Tests, he always made a contribution.
Najmul continued by saying that they have benefited much from Shakib Al Hasan’s comeback to Test cricket following a one-year absence.
“Outside, there will be a lot of conversation. We have no control over it. The players support one another. We acknowledge our lack of performance. We are aware of how to resolve this. “Those who get the chance will do it well; we have some time to get ready for the next Test series,” he remarked.
“I was aware that Shakib bhai will be playing at Chattogram for the second Test. He always gives us advance notice of his plans. He made a contribution to this game. He claimed three wickets. He was a prolific over-bowler.
